Michael's Bio:
2007 performance at Tradewinds in St. Augustine, Florida |
2009.06.04 Michael is a 27 year old musician in Portland, Oregon. Born in 1981 to a small family in Buffalo, NY. Grew up playing band instruments (French Horn and Saxophone), he has been passionate about all types of music since a very young age. About 10 years ago he received a 1974 Yamaha FG-340 from a good friend as a surprise gift that showed up on the porch in a radiator box. For about 2 years the guitar laid unplayed. Finally some confidence grew and he learned how to play guitar by the age of 21. More a song writer than performer or player, his lyrics are based on personal experience, heartache, love and wonder. People have called him "Dylan-esque" and even compare some of the lyrics to the Beatles. While his playing isn't very advanced, the emotion and the words are what he's all about. Mostly a solo performer, he plans on forming a band in the summer of '09. His musical styles range widely, but are best classified as folksy-jazz-country-blues. Most of his songs are mellow and "laid back". Mike has played at several open mics in Florida, Tulsa Oklahoma and Portland Oregon. In 2009 he has a show in Rochester, NY at the MuCCC, where he'll perform with his long time mentor, Rocky Frisco (of JJ Cale, Widespread Panic, etc).
